Kira Kessler's work challenges us to decode, to see beyond the layered surfaces, explore soft threads of a personal microcosm to a broader societal perspective. She questions enduring and emerging social inequalities, while also capturing the ephemeral moments of daily life and her personal physical land-scape. She calls us to revisit our preconceived notions of material and materiality as she blends techniques and contexts to form her vivid visual language.

Kira Kessler’s practice spans collaborations with iconic Haute Couture fashion houses such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Maison Martin Margiela, Louis Vuitton, or Vivienne Westwood, where she developed avant-garde textiles.

Building on her unique knowledge, she develops methods to use mundane materials (packaging, leaves, bark, feathers) as colour pigments or pixels. She similarly integrates found textiles and garments as canvases for new work. Dialoguing with contemporary culture and symbolism, she employs erasing and adding, embodying both destruction and creation.
